🌿 When the Forest Speaks, We Listen
Storytelling has always been central to the Shanenawá way of life — passing down not just knowledge, but values, warnings, and wonder. In honor of the season, this special “Spooky Myth” edition of Indigenous Storytelling Nights features traditional tales of forest spirits, mysterious happenings, and lessons told to children to help them grow in wisdom and respect.
This event is perfect for families, educators, and supporters of all ages who enjoy stories that stir the imagination while honoring cultural tradition.
🌱 What You’ll Experience:
Traditional stories told by Shanenawá elders and youth
Themes of transformation, caution, and the unseen forces of nature
Cultural explanations of the values behind each tale
Reflections on how storytelling shapes behavior, belief, and belonging
🧭 Event Format:
Opening cultural context from Indigenous Foundation hosts
Live storytelling in both Shanenawá and translated English
Reflections from speakers on the deeper meanings of the stories
Optional audience Q&A about storytelling practices
This event is part of the Indigenous Foundation’s oral tradition series, spotlighting the role of story as a tool for teaching, remembering, and connecting — especially as nights grow longer and the forest grows quieter.
